AECOM: your next step forward

Our people are united by a common purpose: to enhance and sustain the world’s built, natural and social environments. In practice, that means planning, designing and managing projects including the parks, communities and places that connect us, the industries that support us and the major infrastructure that moves us. In fact, all the facilities that countries need to sustain economic and social growth.
AECOM is a global company with local presence. We thrive on finding smarter solutions to some of the world’s most challenging projects across buildings, design, environment, water, mining, planning, energy and transportation. This takes a talented and diverse team that includes engineers, planners, designers, scientists, technical specialists, project managers, economists, architects, sustainability specialists and climate changes strategists.
AECOM is 45,000 people in over 100 countries. In Australia and New Zealand we are 3,600 people in 20 offices.

Our people
Saurabh – Engineer, Energy
“I love that we’re encouraged to get our hands dirty on site.”
As a graduate I was looking for a firm that had a broad range of interesting projects across all engineering disciplines, which is what brought me to AECOM. Since leaving university, I have found the real learning happens when you get the chance to put theory into practice and AECOM has given me the opportunity to do that.
Working as part of the Transmission and Distribution team, I get the chance to learn from specialists who have taught me just about everything you need to know as an energy engineer. I have always been encouraged to ask questions and take ownership of my work which is great when you’re learning the ropes.
One of the things I love about AECOM is how we are encouraged to get our hands dirty on site!
It’s also great to work with teams who are dedicated and passionate about what they do while still maintaining a friendly and fun working environment.
Melanie – Town Planner, Design + Planning
“I have never felt like a number in the crowd.”
I started with AECOM as an undergraduate during my final year of study, which was fantastic as it gave me the chance to support myself while combining a practical learning environment with the flexibility of a part-time job.
My team was incredibly supportive allowing me to take off a day here and there for university commitments and it was really great having people around me who were experienced professionals encouraging me to learn new things to progress my career.
Although AECOM is a large company I have never felt like a number in the crowd. People are so approachable and even the senior management team know me on a first name basis.
So far one of my major highlights has been completing a Master Plan for a leading energy provider. On this job I had a lot of autonomy, finding solutions to a range of planning challenges that received positive feedback from the client.
