A SCHOLARSHIP WITH A GUARANTEED PERMANENT TEACHING JOB!

If you want to make a difference and pass on your passion for maths and science to the next generation, then why not look at becoming a NSW public school teacher?

The Department of Education and Communities’ 2012 Teacher Education Scholarships will give you a helping hand in achieving this goal with generous financial assistance to help you through uni and give you the assurance and security of a permanent teaching post when you graduate.

This year up to 300 scholarships are on offer for students to train as teachers in maths, science, English, and primary or secondary special education.

Up to 80 scholarships will be available for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students to train as teachers in any primary or secondary subject.

Scholarship holders will receive $5,000 a year to help with your studies. Over four years of study, this comes to $20,000. In addition, there is $3,000 to help take up the new job when you graduate.

Scholars are guaranteed a permanent job – a huge benefit when many graduates in other professional fields face the prospect of an uncertain and highly competitive job market.

As a teacher, you may also be eligible for the HECS-HELP benefit from the Commonwealth Government.

Applications for the DEC teacher education scholarships will close soon, so act now if you want to really make a difference to tomorrow’s generation. Go to www.teach.nsw.edu.au/scholarships and take the first step to your teaching future.
