Mauro Matalone holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organization and Human Resources from the University of Milan (Italy). He has just completed a 6 month HR internship in the leading international airline in Australia

1. What were some of your responsibilities as an HR Intern in Australia's largest airline?
Working for the leading international airline in Australia, one of the most prestigious in the world is already a great responsibility.
The major task I was involved in was related to the Airbus A380 "On Board Manager" recruitment process. I worked for a few months with the Cabin Crew Recruitment Manager. Also I have administrated lots of files, emails, participated actively in meetings, interview processes, assessment centre sessions, phone calls. I was involved and exposed to daily tasks in the Cabin Crew Human Resources Department.
I can tell, as soon as the internship started, I have been involved in the HR team100% which was amazing.

2. What are some of the benefits of undertaking an internship in Australia?
First of all, it has been invaluable to be a part of the HR team in a huge global aviation organization, and to understand what's behind the scenes of their operations. Also, my business English skills have been improved dramatically. It took a month to get really confident with the different accents, pronunciation and business vocabulary but I managed very well.

3. What appealed to you most about the Australian Internships program?
The chance to work, live and gain relevant work experience in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Australian companies are highly professional and very business oriented. Doing my internship with Australian Internships meant having a guaranteed high quality structured professional training in my field of studies. My goal was to have a competitive Resume and having just come back from Australia after 6 months, I can honestly say I have an outstanding CV.
The Australian Internships staff has always been close to me and offered any kind of support I needed. Furthermore everyone at my Host Company, I was introduced to, made me feel as part of the family. "I had no worries at all!!"

4. What advice would you give to other students considering work experience options?
