Entry level positions - develop your skills

This time of year is traditionally a slow one for graduate program intakes - many organisations have closed their application processes for the year, which means it's an important time for you to change your job search strategies. Consider entry or junior level positions in your field - many of these are available with organisations that may or may not also offer formal graduate programs. For small organisations, recruiting recent graduates through this channel is often the norm.

Entry or junior level positions allow you to gain valuable experience in your field, helping you maintain and develop your skills while offering insights into future career progression.

Consult your networks of friends, family, university careers services and lecturers, and check out online job posting websites for many of these positions.

It's also never too early to start planning for next year's formal graduate program applications. Consult our range of 2009 Graduate Opportunities directories, available in digital format, to plan for many of the opportunities that might be available again in 2010.
