ACT Government Economics & Finance Graduate Program
The ACT Government Economics and Finance Graduate Program is run by ACT Treasury and offers you challenging and diverse career opportunities, exposure to national level policy development, extensive opportunities for interaction with senior ACT Government executives, and formal support and mentoring to assist your career.
As an Economics and Finance Graduate working for the ACT Government, you will become involved in a great variety of initiatives. You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to large programs at a national level and actively participate in Commonwealth-State initiatives, as well as developing and implementing local community programs and plans. You will undertake work that has a real impact on the community and be able to see the results first hand.
Our twelve-month training program is specifically designed to provide you with opportunities to apply your economics, business or finance skills to public policy development, public sector economic and financial analysis and project / program management.
It is also designed to provide you with opportunities to develop your inter-personal and team-orientation skills, presentation skills, public policy skills, written communication skills, and leadership and managerial skills.
In addition to a current salary of $51,554 with scope for increases, and a minimum employer-provided superannuation contribution of 9 per cent, our 2009 graduates will enjoy:
- ongoing training and development opportunities, including challenging off-the-job training;
- access to study leave and studies assistance of up to $7,000 per annum;
- permanent appointment;
- flexible working hours and conditions and access to overtime;
- opportunity to advance to a higher classification upon successful completion of the program;
- 18 day per annum of personal leave and other leave entitlements;
- paid Christmas shutdown period from 28 December to 31 December inclusive;
- flexible salary packaging;
- four weeks annual leave with leave loading;
- relocation assistance for interstate candidates, including partners and dependents; and
- a prime central business district location close to the ANU and commercial precincts.
