Rewarding Careers with DAFF

DAFF Graduate Development Program

About us

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) aims to foster agriculture, fisheries, food and forestry industries that are more competitive, self-reliant and innovative. We strive to ensure that natural resources are sustainably managed and used. We also support our primary industries with scientific advice and economic research, work to increase their access to markets and help protect them from diseases.

Growing and supporting our people as they deliver on our portfolio goals and objectives is something we’re strongly committed to. We add value to their individual career journeys and we’ll do the same for yours.

Our Graduate Development Program

Delivered over an 11-month period, our Graduate Program will give you the skills and knowledge to advance in a rewarding career with us.

It also offers opportunities with three diverse workplace rotations, formal training and development, a leadership residential and a comprehensive industry project involving liaison with industry representatives.

After successfully completing the program, you’ll be awarded with a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Canberra which provides a strong foundation for completing further study.

Who we look for

To ensure we meet the challenges of developing highly-competitive and sustainable industries, we look for graduates with a broad range of skills who can promote the economic and environmental wellbeing of our primary industries. You’ll have:

  • highly developed communication and team skills

Ours is a graduate program that offers you a career, not just a job.
