RB* is the world’s leading consumer health and hygiene company. With operations in over 60 countries and sales in almost 200 countries, RB employs approximately 37,000 people worldwide. Every day, we strive to find even better ways to give people innovative solutions for healthier lives and happier homes – making a real difference.

If it’s tried and tested, we challenge it. We continually invest in research and innovation to stay ahead of the game. In fact, we are changing the game in consumer health, working with people to challenge conventional thinking – whether it is product, packaging and delivery, consumer information or marketing. – That’s how we keep generating the breakthrough thinking and ideas that built 19 iconic Powerbrands around the world with well-loved names such as Nurofen, Strepsils, Mucinex, Dettol, Finish and Vanish. Today, RB is the global No. 1 or No. 2 in the majority of its fast-growing categories, driven by an exceptional rate of innovation.

In 2018 we started a new chapter of sustainable outperformance and created 2 business units – Health and Hygiene Home. These two business units allow us to be more focused, more accountable and more agile.

Fuelled by a new breed of talent who blend intellectual curiosity with commitment to the highest quality standards, RB is set to redefine the world of consumer health and hygiene. RB people and its culture are at the heart of the company’s success. They have an intensive drive for achievement and a desire to outperform wherever they focus, including in sustainability where the company is targeting a 1/3 reduction in water impact, 1/3 reduction in carbon and to have 1/3 of its net revenue coming from more sustainable products by 2020.

RB is also the Save the Children charity’s largest FMCG global partner, with a new partnership vision to radically reduce the world’s second biggest killer of under-fives, diarrhoea. Overall, RB wants to reach 200 million people to improve their health and hygiene behaviour.

The future of RB is exciting. The changes we are making will reignite the potential of our people and our brands and create value for years to come.

Do you thrive in a game changing environment of high autonomy and accountability? Do you want to be a part of this exciting journey with us? The RB graduate program will give you the springboard of challenge, opportunity and individual freedom. What happens next is up to you.

We currently run 3 different Graduate programs throughout our business units (Hygiene Home and Health) in the area of supply, finance and sales and marketing.

Our Commercial Graduate Program is an approximately three-year rotational program across the Sales and Marketing functions, with rotations through Field Sales, Sales Analysis and Marketing. As a result, RB Graduates grow and develop into true business leaders in a very commercial environment before even completing their program. After the completion of the graduate program, our graduates progress into key roles in Account Management or Brand Management.

Our Supply Graduate Program is an approximately two-year rotational program covering Customer Service, Logistics, Supply & Demand Planning and New Product Implementation. The Supply Graduate Program is designed to develop individuals to be RB leaders of the future.

Our Finance Graduate Program is an approximately two-year rotational program covering commercial finance (sales and marketing), supply finance and accounting. Most training is given on the job, supplemented with an on-boarding program and ongoing development.

At RB you won’t feel like you’re trudging a well-worn career path. Your future is in your own hands, we’ll just provide you with the support you need to get there. In our Graduate Development Program you’ll develop as a business manager in a truly commercial environment.

Sales Analyst, Coles Account

Studied: Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts
University:  University of Sydney

I’ve always been interested in the intersection of successful commercial businesses and marketing/advertising creativity, with the FMCG industry being a clear example of how this can work well. I came to work at RB through doing a bit of research in the industry and applying online to their Summer Internship Program to see if this was the right option for me- turns out it was exactly what I wanted.

My Experience with RB

RB offer their Grads a range of experience across at least two functions of the business. As an Assistant Brand Manager on some leading brands such as Strepsils and Vanish Napisan, I launched new products into the market, worked with agencies to develop creative, shot advertisements and also learnt how to effectively project manage and create a profitable brand through commercial decision making. In my current commercial sales role, I have direct contact with one of our largest customers (Coles) to ensure we are making the best deals and working with them to maximise sales that benefits both parties through managing promotions and instore activities. I also support the other Coles Account managers by providing them with insights into the drivers behind their results and present revenue and in market trackers back to the leadership teams so they can make effective decisions.

Uni was great fun with an amazing amount of holidays, which meant the initial transition took some getting used to (especially the early mornings). Also shifting from the theoretical to the practical can be draining, but when you work with lots of fun, like-minded and smart people, you soon come to realise it isn’t so bad and as they all say, practice makes perfect.

My Best Advice

Be yourself (not what you think employers want). Let your natural attitude and character come through, remember that recruiters listen and talk to heaps of candidates so don’t blend in with the rest!
Also, don’t be discouraged if you get knocked back a few times, just take the learnings and try again.

I believe the reason I was successful in my application was because I was confident that RB and myself were a good match, from my skill set to my character/attitude. To be confident in this, I researched the company, read different forums and also looked at their core values and cultural vision. I also took the time at my interview to ensure I was happy and confident with what RB could offer me (interviews are not a one way street- you have a choice where you work so they need to win you over too!).  I think it was this combination that helped RB choose me as a graduate, but also helped me choose RB.
