2. VIDEO SUBMISSION
If you’re successful, we will invite you to complete a short video submission answering a few questions about yourself, and why you will excel on our graduate program.
3. PHONE INTERVIEW
Two to three business days later, you will receive a notification via email with the outcome of your application. If you’re successful, the next step will be to have a phone interview with a Flight Centre Travel Group recruiter.
The phone interview will be a short conversation to find out more about your experience and why you want to work with us. It’s also a chance for you to learn more about the role, salary and benefits.
4. PSYCHOMETRIC TEST ONLINE
The psychometric test can be completed at home, and usually takes an hour. The test is designed to assess your thinking styles and behavioural preferences in the workplace.
5. ASSESSMENT DAY
The Assessment Day involves role-plays, short assessments and behavioural interviews.
This is a two-way opportunity for us to assess you on your suitability for the role as well as for you to find out more about Flight Centre Travel Group, the role and our development pathways so that you can make an informed decision. We will ask for your professional references and do pre-employment checks at this stage.

What is my job about?
My employer sells travel! Best job in the world right? I am a travel consultant and my responsibilities include organising and managing holidays for my clients and ensuring the store runs smoothly on a day to day basis. Can’t complain when my responsibilities also include travelling the world and eating all the food along the way!
On a day to day basis, I consult with many different kinds of people and book trips all around the world! I can manage up to 200 bookings at one time, handling all my own accounting and ensuring that my customers are happy. I also assist in the daily operation of the store including reconciliations, team activities and training meetings. Flight Centre is all about work hard, play hard, do that and you will be rewarded in the best way!
What is my background?
I love so many things about my job but just to name a few… I love the satisfaction you feel when a customer comes home from their trip and drops by to tell you how amazing it was and how you made it happen for them. That is super special. I also love when my hard work gets rewarded – like being flown to Berlin for our Global Gathering Conference! I love having the ability to be creative in my role by organising itineraries for people and coming up with awesome ideas to make their trip extra special. My favourite part about my day is when I get a great walk in enquiry and build an awesome itinerary from the ground up (I am normally super jealous by the end).
Use the resources you have! Don’t be afraid to use your tutor, that’s what you are paying them to do after all! Ask them loads of questions, spam the heck out of their inboxes. Go study in the library – you can find so many references in there (we all know how annoying it can be to find references…). Use fellow students to work together in finding the answers to some of the nearly impossible questions they can sometimes ask you. The university is your oyster, so crack it open and enjoy every part of it!

What is my job about?
As an Assistant Team Leader, my responsibilities are to support my Team Leader in developing our team of retail travel consultants and to ensure that together we are running a profitable business.
Any given day can be completely different from the previous, which is what makes it such an exciting role. Coming into Flight Centre Travel Group through the Graduate Program also means that I have quarterly projects, in addition to attending networking events which are great opportunities to connect with consultants around Australia. I’ve also been fortunate to be involved in a formalized mentorship program developed by Flight Centre Travel Group’s People & Culture department, Peopleworks. Through this program I connect with new employees from other retail sites to ensure that they’re getting the most out of their new career.
What is my background?
Upon graduating high school in 2010 I moved to Brisbane to commence my Business degree, majoring in International Business. To further compliment my degree, I also wanted to and expand my language abilities and study French and Spanish through the Brisbane Universities Language Alliance (BULA) and The University of Queensland. Upon graduating, I took on an internship through AIESEC Australia where I nominated to be placed in South America to better my Spanish. In addition to this experience, I had an amazing opportunity to live and work in Brazil, teaching English and challenging myself by learning Portuguese!
This experience opened my eyes more than I could have imagined and I learned more about life than any school could teach me. As my two years was coming to an end I decided to start thinking about graduate programs and where all this life experience could take me. The Flight Centre Graduate program definitely appealed to me, as it opened doors to a career in travel, which I’m very passionate about.
Could someone with a different background do my job?
Absolutely! One of the great things about the Flight Centre Graduate Program is that it is non-rotational and you don’t just work with graduates, you work with people of varying backgrounds and experience. The most important skill to have in this job is an open mind, because you need to be adaptable, understanding, creative, and problem solver. Flight Centre offer lots of ongoing training opportunities so it’s really up to you to take hold of those training opportunities to better yourself professionally and to take on any role within the retail space.
What’s the coolest thing about my job?
The best part of my job is the culture that the senior leadership at Flight Centre Travel Group have created because it makes it fun to be a part of and makes doing all the hard work worth it. The benefit of the graduate program is that the program organisers also encourage you to follow your areas of interest and they facilitate introductions to get you to your dream position within the company.
I also love that I get to work in what we call a multi-team environment so I work alongside 4 other retail teams and this is such a good opportunity to work with various personalities and people of different backgrounds and with different goals. This is important to me as it allows me to develop my adaptability, patience and understand different methods of thinking and approaching business strategy. My retail environment is like this because we are located in a high volume enquiry region (Brisbane CBD) and with extended working hours.
