Snowy Hydro

The Snowy Mountains Scheme is internationally recognised as one of the engineering wonders of the modern world.

Completed in 1974, it diverts water for irrigation, and produces clean, renewable hydro electricity through a complex infrastructure of 16 major dams, 9 power stations and over 200km of interconnected tunnels and aqueducts, primarily located in the Kosciuszko National Park of NSW.

Today, Snowy Hydro owns and operates the Scheme, two gas fired power stations, and are the parent company for electricity retailer, Red Energy.

At Snowy Hydro, we offer exceptional opportunities to accelerate your career. The complexity of our business demands a broad range of expertise, from electrical, mechanical, civil, systems and mechatronic engineering, to information and communications technology, commerce and environmental science.

Graduates joining Snowy Hydro will participate in a three year Graduate Development Program, which has been designed in partnership with Engineers Australia. The program involves a series of rotations which provide an opportunity to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the entire business function, and the opportunity to realise your passion for future development.

In addition, Snowy Hydro offers a summer vacation program for penultimate year engineering and information/communication technology students. The program runs from December to February, and provides an outstanding opportunity to obtain hands-on experience as well as an insight into the career opportunities offered within the business.

As a graduate and a vacation student, you will find yourself working with some of the world’s largest and most advanced equipment, technology and infrastructure, building on what continues to be an outstanding engineering achievement.
