Queensland Law Society (QLS)

The power and prestige of a professional association is derived from its members. QLS is the peak professional body for the state's legal practitioners, with more than 8,500 members and a growing associate (law student) membership. QLS members comprise legal and non-legal professionals from the private sector, government, tertiary institutions, industry and local community.

Among the main objectives of QLS are representing and promoting the profession, increasing community understanding of the law, helping to protect the rights of individuals and advising the community about the many benefits solicitors can provide.

QLS services the needs of its members, as well as meeting its statutory duties and obligations, and is proud of its high standards of accountability, integrity and professionalism.

If you are studying law at university, a recent law graduate or undertaking practical legal training, QLS can assist in your transition from law student to fully-fledged solicitor.

To help you make important career decisions we provide information about the job options available in the profession and explain the requirements and procedures for gaining admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland and a Practising Certificate.
