Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) is part of the Defence Intelligence and Security Group which also includes the Defence Imagery and Geospatial Organisation (DIGO), the Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO) and the Defence Security Authority (DSA).

DSD’s mission, ‘Reveal Their Secrets... Protect Our Own’ accurately summarises our role. DSD:
  • Collects and analyses foreign signals intelligence, known as Sigint.
  • Provides advice and assistance on information and communication security, sophisticated cyber threats and security information, known as Cyber and Infosec.
The work we perform is dynamic, unique, critical, incredibly rewarding and makes a difference to the security of Australia. DSD incorporates some of the most powerful leading edge technologies in a dynamic environment to support its objectives:
  • Combating International Crime, Weapons Proliferation and Terrorism.
  • Supporting Military Operations.
  • Protecting Australian Government Computer Networks.
Altitude@DSD is a twelve month rotation-based development and training program designed to build the foundations for a career within DSD and the National Intelligence Community. Development areas can include but are not limited to:
  • Computer and Information Security
  • Cyber Operations
  • Software Design, Development and Support
  • Communications Systems Engineering
  • Project Management Systems Engineering
  • Business Analysis
  • Analysis, Reporting and Linguistics
  • Cryptography
  • Compliance and Corporate Policy
  • Financial and Project Management
  • Training and Development.

We are seeking high achieving graduates and final year students from all degree disciplines who want to work in an innovative, professional and friendly environment that makes a vital difference to Australia’s national security.

Altitude@DSD is a twelve month rotation based graduate development and training program designed to build the foundations for a career within DSD and the National Intelligence Community. We are seeking graduates and final year students with a wide range of skills, experiences and qualifications who want to work in an organisation that makes a vital difference to Australia’s national security.

Australian citizens ONLY

Additional eligibility requirements
Applicants must have at least a 10-year checkable background and be willing to undergo a compre-hensive security assessment to the highest level.

Salary
A salary package of $66,850 (including superannuation and a Graduate APS4 Salary of $57,929). In addition, employees receive great training and development opportunities, a family-friendly and flexible working environment, and relocation benefits (if required).
