Launched in 2009, AEMO manages the National Electricity Market (NEM) and the retail and wholesale gas markets of southern and eastern Australia. We ensure our energy markets operate effectively to balance issues of price, quality, safety, reliability and the security of energy supply. We also have new responsibilities in the area of electricity transmission planning and in gas market development.

In the coming years the energy sector will have to meet substantial challenges as it seeks to transition to a carbon-constrained future. Together with government and industry, AEMO will play a key role in redefining this sector to ensure a secure, reliable and sustainable energy supply into the future.

AEMO conducts a three-year Graduate Development Program (GDP) targeted specifically at graduates who are looking for a unique and challenging career within the Australian energy industry.

Designed to ensure that all Graduates at AEMO get a solid foundation to kick-start their career, the AEMO GDP is a rotational development program where graduates gain experience in separate business areas across AEMO. This means you will have the opportunity to gain sound training in either gas or electricity by working alongside a team of technical experts as you develop your professional career.
