The Department of the Attorney General (DotAG) plays a major role in managing the state’s justice system. The Department offers a diverse range of career paths where you can make a difference to society in a range of exciting and challenging roles.

We have offices in metropolitan and regional WA, including Albany, Geraldton, Bunbury, Broome,

Carnarvon, Karratha, Mandurah, Busselton, Merredin, Katanning, Moora, Esperance, Collie and Kalgoorlie.

The key functions of Department include:

  • Administering the State’s courts and tribunals
  • Helping victims of crime
  • Providing legal services to Government
  • Translating Government policy into laws that
  • are easily understood
  • Providing trustee services
  • Providing services to advance the best interests and rights of people with decisionmaking disabilities
  • Registering births, deaths and marriages
  • Supporting various prisoner-related review boards
 

About the Graduate Development Program

The Graduate Development Program gives recent university graduates of all ages and backgrounds an opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills.

The program does this by giving graduates ’hands on’ experience across the Department in a range of justice-related areas which will enhance their future careers.

Graduates may work across a range of areas including Court and Tribunal Services, Public Trustee, Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages and Corporate Services. 

What we offer

You could have a rewarding career in one of WA’s most vital service areas:

  • Permanent full-time employment with the Department involving an initial 18-month development program, comprised of rotational placements. At the completion of the program, you will be placed in a permanent position within one of the Department’s participating business areas.
  • A starting salary of $48,409 and a 17.5% annual leave loading
