Brisbane City Council (Graduate Program)

There are over 4,000 different types of jobs in Brisbane City Council, and everyone has a role to play in making Brisbane an   even better place to live.

Council has a myriad of projects on the go at any one time that aim to enhance the natural environment, plan for our future, improve public transport and minimise traffic congestion.

Our Graduate Program
The Graduate Development Program is a two-year program offered to university graduates looking for the opportunity to build on the knowledge and skills developed in their study. As a permanent employee and Council graduate you will have the opportunity to work in a number of different areas, as well as take on exciting opportunities while learning from experienced mentors.

Your technical skills are enhanced through the provision of four six-month rotations during the two-year program. The rotations provide Council graduates the opportunity to stretch their abilities and develop a wide variety of skills that will complement their professional qualifications and ambitions.

Technical skills are also developed through attendance at relevant conferences, forums, seminars and industry specific training programs. Tertiary study assistance is also offered to eligible graduates which may include, flexible work options, reimbursement of course fees, textbook allowance and paid/unpaid study leave/exam leave.

Our graduates enjoy:
  • a permanent position with a starting salary around $60,000 per annum, plus 14% superannuation
  • an innovative and informative learning program that is designed to compliment your technical skills and is delivered in a relaxed environment
  • study assistance opportunities, mentoring and ongoing learning to support your career aspirations
  • flexible working options that help to balance your career with your personal/home life
