At SA Water we view our graduates as potential future leaders of our organisation. We are an internationally recognised water utility wholly owned by the Government of South Australia for the people of South Australia. We deliver water and wastewater services to almost 1.4 million people across the State.

With an annual turnover of about $750 million, assets of more than $6 billion and more than 1300 staff, SA Water is a big part of the South Australian landscape. With water supply being on the forefront of national and state interest, SA Water is involved in exciting and innovative projects aimed at securing supply for the State.

Vocational work experience

Vocational work experience opportunities within SA Water are limited to those students who require practical work experience in order to complete their tertiary course requirements.

The placement is usually for the period deemed essential to successfully complete the tertiary qualification, up to 12 weeks.

During this period the student is a paid employee of SA Water. Most vocational placement opportunities occur during the summer period (November to February).

What we offer you

SA Water has a high profile graduate program which provides a structured yet flexible two-year project rotation program. The SA Water graduate program is designed to fast track graduates’ knowledge and skills in order to prepare them for an ongoing role in the business. Graduates have the opportunity to undertake diverse project assignments which can range from 6 to 12 months each.

Our program provides graduates with the opportunity to not only work in their disciplinary background but to also work in different business units across SA Water to gain a wider experience and develop a broad range of skills and knowledge.

Other features of our program include:

  • Continuous training and development. Graduates will undertake extensive training in a range of areas including: water quality awareness, presentation skills, project management and negotiating and influencing. Attendance at industry led events is also supported.
  • Excellent work life balance including flexible hours, gym membership discounts.
  • Opportunity to learn from some of the leaders in the water industry. Networking events are held for graduates to get together and catch up and also meet employees from our other programs across the business.
  • A dedicated mentor and buddy to assist and guide you throughout the program.
