What we do
Headed by the Auditor-General, the ANAO is an independent, objective auditor to the Commonwealth public sector. The ANAO provides Parliament with an independent assurance of public sector performance and accountability structures.

Assurance Audit

The Assurance Audit Group conducts annual financial statement audits of Australian government entities and agencies. It plays a crucial role in improving the standards of financial management and administration across the public sector.

Performance Audit
Performance audit provides Parliament with assurance about the quality of public resource management. These audits also assist public sector managers by identifying and promoting better administrative and management practices.

IT Audit
IT Audit provides leading edge IT support and resources to both Assurance and Performance Audit. IT Audit staff are drawn from a range of professional and technical backgrounds including: system administration and data analysis.
