Australian Institute of Health and Welfare

The AIHW is Australia’s national agency for health and welfare statistics and information. A Canberra-based statutory authority established in 1987, we employ around 260 staff and provide a wide array of products and services, including over 140 reports each year. Our work informs community discussion and decision-making. It includes collecting and analysing data about health, housing and community services, and about the health and welfare of Australians. We play a key role in developing national statistical standards and classifications. We work closely with Australian Government, State and Territory health, housing and community services departments, and with peak non-government organisations.
