The Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts develops and implements national policy, programs and legislation to protect and conserve Australia’s environment and heritage and to promote Australian arts and culture.

The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts covers a diverse and exciting range of issues. Some of the areas we work on include: environment protection and conservation of biodiversity; community and household climate action; cultural affairs; natural, built and movable cultural heritage; film and the arts; water resources; greenhouse gas abatement; renewable and energy efficiency;and air and fuel quality.
