Graduate Opportunities

The Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO) is responsible for assessing military intelligence that focuses on global security, terrorism, defence economics, military capabilities, and science and technology with military applications.

Located in Canberra, DIO is the strategic level, all-source intelligence assessment agency that provides services and advice nationally. Its mandate is to support Defence and Government decision-making and assist with the planning and conduct of Australian Defence Operations. Graduates in DIO will have the ability to directly impact the high level decisions made in Defence.

What we offer Graduates

Generic Analysts

Analytical graduates immediately become part of an analytical team focusing on military and defence related topics in areas of interest to Defence decision-makers and the Australian Defence Force (ADF). DIO’s analysts work to support ADF operations, but more generally, the core business of DIO is to analyse and assess intelligence for the wider Australian Defence Organisation and Australian Federal Government. Analysts will also have the opportunity to travel overseas to develop their skills.

Scientific Analysts

Scientific graduates immediately become part of an analytical team focusing on specific areas of military interest. These areas include nuclear, chemical and biological proliferation, emerging technologies, strategic health and weapon systems. Scientific analysts will have the opportunity to participate in international conferences both in Australia and overseas.

Corporate Personnel

Corporate graduates will have the opportunity to begin a career in their respective field in a high paced public service environment. DIO has the following areas for administrative staff at the graduate level: information technology (IT), information management, IT security; accounts and finance; human resource management; branch administration officer/executive assistant; and security administration.
