Westpac

Westpac was not just Australia’s first bank, we were Australia’s first company, founded in 1817 as ‘the people’s bank’, for the people of a new nation. For almost 200 years, we’ve been at the heart of the Australian and New Zealand communities. Today, our operations span the full spectrum of financial services, from high street banking to some of the biggest institutional deals in the world.

Our culture & values

Our core values are achievement, integrity and teamwork. Our philosophy is to build better lives for all Australians. People are at the heart of everything we do and we are guided by a simple principle: ‘doing the right thing’.

Westpac has long set the standard for corporate social responsibility. We were one of the first banks in the world to sign ‘The Equator Principles’, agreeing not to fund projects that endanger communities or the environment.

Conditions & benefits

With our mentoring, training and development we offer a great work environment for all employees and we believe in a healthy work-life balance. We offer competitive salaries to graduates and allow them Community Work days so you can give something back.

What we offer graduates

We have a support network set up so you can keep in touch with us and other graduates before you even start. There’s also buddy and mentoring schemes and from day one you are considered and treated like a fully-fledged employee. You’ll have your say and it’ll have impact.

We have a rotation system so that if you’re unsure of where you fit you can see what suits you. This will help you develop a network of contacts (and friends) as well as understand cross-functional disciplines. We provide a range of generalist, specialist and international programs to accommodate your interests.

Training opportunities

You will participate in an enterprise-wide training curriculum tailored specially for Westpac graduates to help them develop necessary soft skills for success within Westpac.

You will also participate in extra technical training specifically related to your roles and business units.
