Medicare Australia is an agency operating under the umbrella of the Department of Human Services, along with five other agencies: Centrelink, CRS Australia, Child Support Agency, Health Services Australia and Australian Hearing.

We administer Medicare, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (and equivalent services to veterans), Family Assistance, the Australian Organ Donor Register, the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register and other programs.

We have about 6000 staff. Our National office is in Canberra and we have State headquarters in each capital city and our branch network has 238 Medicare offices across Australia.
