Going through the various subjects in my Civil Engineering degree has allowed me to identify my specific interest in Geotechnical Engineering and discover where I want to go in my career. Fortunately, my degree and passion gained me the perfect role in Arup.
My Experience at Arup
After being with Arup for over 2 years as a Geotechnical Engineer, I have gained various technical and project experience developing beyond what I have learnt in university. I have been involved with design and modelling work for highway, rail and buildings projects from small scale through to large multidisciplinary projects. However, the thing I love the most about my role is that I often have the opportunity to get out of the office and get my hands dirty on site investigations. In addition, Arup’s Graduate Program provided me with brilliant courses and tools to develop transferrable skills and what it takes to be a professional engineering consultant.
My best advice for you
Always give your best effort in anything that you do, in your studies and job seeking, and have no regrets. You will have your share of ups and downs, but continue to learn from these valuable experiences.
