Daniel Atkin, Bachelor of Business (Major in Economics/Minor in Business Law)

Daniel undertook a 12-month industry-based learning (IBL) placement at CGU Insurance during his undergraduate degree. He is currently employed by the federal government in the Department of Finance and Deregulation Graduate Program.

Kate Cuddihy, Master of International Hotel & Tourism Management (Event Management)

Kate got her event management career on track by undertaking an Events Assistant Internship with the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at The University of Queensland.

Tamara Perry, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons)/Bachelor of Science

Tamara combined her work experience with international travel when she undertook a six-month internship with Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) in Switzerland.

Taki Dermedgoglou, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering

Taki’s career plan got a little clearer after undertaking a three-month full-time vacation program with Rio Tinto Iron Ore working at Hope Downs Mine on a 9-days-on, 5-days-off ’fly-in/fly-out’ (FIFO) roster.

Jenny Duong, Bachelor of Information Technology

Jenny has a technology graduate position with National Australia Bank (NAB). As part of her degree requirements she also undertook industry-based learning, including with NAB, and has volunteered on community-based IT projects.

Caryn Chan, Bachelor of Commerce

Caryn’s two undergraduate programs with Pitcher Partners and Deloitte gave her the opportunity to put theory into practice in a real world environment. She has recently accepted a graduate position with Deloitte.

Tasmond Webber, Bachelor of Business

Tasmond is a marketing officer with the USQ Student Management Division. His position began while still an undergraduate, and he was able to secure a permanent position upon graduation.

Ilya Egorov, Master of Accounting and Financial Management

Ilya is a former international student from Russia and currently works as a finance and resources officer for La Trobe International Office at La Trobe University.

Katharine McPherson, Bachelor of Laws (First Class Hons)/Bachelor of Commerce (Banking)

Katharine is an articled clerk with Freehills, a leading Australian-based international law firm. She has undertaken numerous volunteer roles, along with public and private sector clerkships.

Anna Tang, Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems)

Anna is an IT consultant in IBM’s one-year graduate program. During her studies she gained professional experience working on several IT-related internships.

Latif Oylan, Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)

Latif completed a graduate position in 2008 with the South Australian Auditor-General’s Department, and currently works as an assistant project manager for the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB).

Alex Hoffman, Bachelor of Economics

Alex works as an economist in Emerging Technologies for Queensland Primary Industries and Fisheries (QPIF), part of the state’s Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation.

Brock Rodwell, Bachelor of Communication (Business) majoring in Marketing & Public Relations

While completing his undergraduate degree on the Gold Coast in 2008, Brock undertook an internship within the Marketing Department of MTV Australia. After completing his degree Brock made the move to Sydney, where he is currently working as an account coordinator in the Clemenger Group Graduate 2010 Program.

Stephanie Sumner, Bachelor of Arts, La Trobe University/Bachelor of Communications

Stephanie is undertaking a graduate position in Corporate Public Affairs with Australia Post. Last year she held the position of Bicentenary Program Coordinator for the organisation’s 200th anniversary celebrations. Majoring in Politics, Media Studies and Public Relations, she also volunteered with an international film festival.

Stephany Hiew, Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Science

Stephany is a graduate accountant in Assurance at Ernst & Young. She also spent time as a vacationer with Ernst & Young, and undertook several volunteer roles as a student at university.

Andrew Hind, Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Arts

Andrew is the financial analyst for Flight Operations and Customer Service at Jetstar Airways. He previously undertook various management accounting and financial accounting roles in the Qantas Graduate Program, as well as industry-based learning (IBL) work during his studies.

Praveen Vaidyanathan, Master of Communication (Advertising) & Master of Commerce

Praveen completed four internships with multinational advertising agencies; two in India during his undergraduate degree and two in Australia whilst undertaking masters. He is currently working as a Junior Planner at George Patterson Y&R, Melbourne.

Jessica Norgard, Bachelor of Communication/Bachelor of Law

Jessica is in the final year of her Law degree and recently undertook a commercial law clerkship with Sydney-based firm Blake Dawson as an optional part of her studies. She is also the Education (Public Relations) Officer for the nationally-reaching Australian Law Students’ Association (ALSA).

Ashara Wickramasinghe, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Commerce

Ashara is currently employed as a graduate mechanical engineer at Woodside Energy, one of the world’s largest producers of liquefied natural gas. As an undergraduate she also participated in several volunteer projects, and undertook a number of engineering-based vacation positions, including with Woodside.

Cheryl Vacchini, Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)

Cheryl is a social worker and case manager at Kirwan Community Mental Health in Townsville, North Queensland. After completing her undergraduate degree she spent a year in rural practice at Cherbourg Community Health as part of the Queensland Health Rural Scholarship Scheme, and is currently also completing her Masters in Mental Health at Griffith University.

Alice Davis, Bachelor of International Studies/Bachelor of Arts

Alice is a program advisor with Projects Abroad, a leading international volunteer organisation with over 4,000 volunteers globally. She spent time volunteering in an orphanage in Bolivia while studying, before joining the organisation full time after graduation.

Mike Li, Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Economics

Mike is in the final year of his undergraduate degree. He has undertaken vacation work with Grant Thornton, a leading international accounting firm, and is a student member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia).

Karen Wong, Bachelor of Food Science & Technology

Karen is from Malaysia and came to Australia to complete her undergraduate studies. She holds a bridging visa that permits her to work through the South Australian Food Centre’s Graduate Access Program as a food technologist for Kinkawooka Mussels. She is awaiting a decision on her application for a graduate visa.

Ashleigh Hackles, Bachelor of Civil Engineering

Ashleigh works as a project engineer for WRM Water & Environment, a small consulting firm specialising in water resource engineering and environmental water management. Ashleigh is also completing a Master of Engineering (Research) part time at QUT.
